About the classes

Join Kadampa meditation teacher, Jill Arseneau, who will explain from the book Modern Buddhism: the path of compassion and wisdom how to build a foundation for the spiritual path, how to progress on that path and how to complete it. With compassion and wisdom we can solve all our daily problems and accomplish the real meaning of our human life, and like two wings of a bird they will enable us to reach enlightenment quickly.

These classes are perfectly suited for those seeking solutions within Buddhism, as well as for encouraging practitioners of all faiths to deepen their understanding and practice of the spiritual path.

Subjects & dates

May 11 – Controlling our mind with Lamrim

Everyone needs to make their life happy and meningful, to solve temporarily their human problems and ultimatelyto find pure and everlasting happiness. We can accomplish this through Buddha’s Lamrim teachings from which we learn to control our anger, attachment, jealousy, and especially ignorance.

May 18 – What is meditation and how does it help?

We want to be happy all the time, even during our dreams. How can we do this. Through training in meditation. Meditation makes our mind become peaceful, and when our mind is peaceful we are happy all the time, even if our external condition are poor.

May 25 – What is the real meaning of human life?

Material possessions, reputation, good looks, power, excitement, adventure, and relationships can make us superficially happy for a short time, but they can never give us the real happiness that in our hearts we long for. This we can find only through authentic spiritual practice.

June 8 – How awareness of death enriches your life

Although we usually do not like to think about death, Buddha says awareness of our mortality is the best way to make our life truly meaningful. Meditating on death opes the door to the spiritual path.
