The Foundation Program

The New Heart of Wisdom: profound teachings from Buddha’s heart

From September we will be open in a limited way to students attending in person at KMC Fraser Valley in Abbotsford; please be sure to contact Jill epc@kmcfv.ca if you’d like to attend in person.

Mondays, 6:30-8:30pm.

Winter dates: January 11th  to  April 26th

This book is an explanation of the Heart Sutra, which reveals the profound meaning of the Perfection of Wisdom Sutras. The author, Geshe Kelsang Gyatso shows how all our problems and suffering come from our ignorance of the ultimate nature of things, and how we can abandon this ignorance and come to enjoy pure, lasting happiness by developing a special wisdom associated with compassion for all living beings.

Universal Compassion: inspiring solutions for difficult times

This is a new Foundation Program in South Surrey. We meet in person at Alexandra House, or if you prefer, you can receive audio recordings of the classes. Be sure to contact the coordinator, Ross at surrey@kmcfv.ca if you’d like to attend in person

This book gives practical instructions showing how to transform even the most difficult daily life experiences into opportunities for spiritual growth through developing universal love and compassion.

Meaningful to Behold: becoming a friend of the world

This book is a commentary to the famous 8thcentury poem Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life by the Indian Buddhist master, Shantideva. It shows how we, in these modern times, can become a compassionate Bodhisattva, a friend of the world.
