The True Nature of Things
Do people and things really exist in the way we think they do?
We naturally believe that the things we see around us, such as tables, chairs and houses, exist in exactly the way that they appear. They seem to have an objective existence, out there, separate from our mind. Because we relate to things, especially our self, far too concretely, we experience problems and frustration, often feeling a dis-ease with ourself and the world around us.
However, if we examine carefully we will see the role of our mind in bringing things into existence. Buddha explained that things lack, or are empty of, objective existence. Rather, they exist as appearances to mind, projections of mind, like dreams or illusions. This will have a huge impact on our life as we let go of our fixed perceptions and stop our deluded mind of self-grasping. We shall be able to live lightly, and have the flexibility of mind to respond to every situation in a constructive way.
Come and explore this profound and liberating subject with visiting Teacher, Gen Kelsang Zopa. We will understand for ourselves that there is no greater method for experiencing peace of mind and happiness than to meditate on the true nature of things. It is the universal solution to all our problems.
This course is based on the clear and practical teachings of Geshe Kelsang Gyatso in his books, such as Modern Buddhism and How to Transform Your Life. Although the subject is profound, Gen Zopa will present it in a practical and accessible way that anyone can enjoy.
Everyone is welcome!
