Purifying Negative Karma

We all carry things from the past—actions we regret, mistakes we’ve made, and habits we wish we could change. Buddha’s teachings on karma offer an encouraging perspective: our past does not have to determine our future.

Karma is not fixed or permanent. Just as we can create the causes of future happiness through our actions today, we can also purify the potential of past negative actions before they ripen as suffering.

In this course, we will explore Buddha’s practical methods for purifying negative karma, including the powerful practice of the four opponent powers. Rather than responding to our mistakes with guilt or discouragement, we can learn how to acknowledge them with wisdom, purify their effects, and make a positive determination for the future.

Through teachings and guided meditations, we will discover how purification can help us let go of the past, create greater peace in the present, and move forward with confidence and a renewed sense of possibility.

We cannot change what we have done, but we can change what happens next.
